About Richard Edge
Richard’s expertise in dog training spans nearly 20 years and in 2013 he became the first Accredited instructor of The Kennel Club Accredited Scheme for instructors in Dog Training and Canine Behavior (KCAI) in West Yorkshire. Recognized throughout the UK and World Wide as being one of the leading professional bodies for those who provide advice and training in canine behavior. He has just completed his Bachelor of Science degree BSc (Hons) in Canine Behavior &Training at Hull University, after achieving his Foundation Degree (FdSc) in Canine Behavior and Training in 2014 and Richard also guest lecturers at Bishop Burton College. In 2015, Richard achieved his accreditation to become a member of the APDT, cementing Richard’s practical skills across a multiple of organization realms. As a founder and principle trainer of The Suburban Gundog Way, Richard utilizes the advantages of Gundog training in suburban environments and incorporates all the advantages of Sundog training to any breed and any owners. Working with rescue centers is something that is close to Richard’s heart, not only has he rescued a dog, Drake, having had 5 previous owners, Richard has also worked with many rescue centers across the globe.
With Richard’s combination of force free methods, exceptional practical skills and his scientific approach to behavioral issues, his expertise in the field of canine behavior and training is internationally recognized and respected by his peers and pet dog owners alike.

From Rescue to Forever Home (Sept 29-30)
Richard will discuss and demonstrate methods of initial assessment for shelter admissions including structured protocols in order to define appropriate dog selection. Shelter training plans and behaviour programmes for individual cases will also be discussed and demonstrated with a focus on reducing return rates in shelters, social/community training, unwanted behaviour in shelters environment and when a dog is rehomed.
2-Day Boot Camp (Oct 1-2)
Richard will take you through basic boot camp training on the first day where you and your dog will work as a team to complete several training challenges associated with basic training exercises. Day two takes the training further with more advanced exercises, with successful teams acquiring points accumulated throughout the weekend with the winner receiving a special prize.
However, be warned!!! If your dog is working to win you a prize, you will have to work just as hard both mentally and physically!!!!!!!!!!
